18th July 2017
Windsurfing: Felixstowe Dip
Wind Direction: ENE
Wind Stength: F3/4
Surf / Sea State: wavy lumpy
Air Temperature: warm
Sea Temperature: warm
Weather: warm
Max Speed: 23.83 (knots - unless stated otherwise)
Distance Covered: 8.2 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)

On arrival at 2pm it was clearly too late. Sea was lumpy and the wind was marginal. I said I wouldn't use cam sails at Felixstowe unless it was flat, but the 7.8 RRD 3 cam beast was at the top of the pile. The cams were a pig today delaying me 15mins to rig, then had to do it all again as not enough set on the extension. Hook it to my Goya 130 which is a really nice forgiving board in these lumpy conditions. Loads out and all planning except me. Poodle upwind after seeing Dolphin Paul burning the river mouth almost near Bawdsey. In the end gave up as it took ages, just to get to kite zone and still not enough wind for me. The fear of waterstarting the 3 cam race sail was enough to keep me on the deck most of the time + landing shore side so as not to lose ground. Was hoping for a nice broad reach back but alas not enough. Fast speeds achieved by Pete and Squiz in the earlier sessions. Still another few calories burnt and weather was warm. 7 or so out had a good time, but sea wasn't my favourite so wasn't bothered if I sailed.
